Mission
Through its virtual museum and archive, the Securities and Exchange Commission Historical Society seeks to make broadly available primary materials on the impact that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has had on the growth of U.S. and international capital markets since its inception, and to contribute to the understanding of how the SEC has shaped and continues to shape U.S. and international capital markets.
The Society, founded as a 501(c)(3) non-profit institution in 1999, is independent of and separate from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and receives no federal funding. The Society is also separate from and independent of ASECA - the Association of SEC Alumni.
Support for the Society comes solely from grants from institutions (review a current list of institution donors) and gifts from individuals (join in support). Whether you are working or have worked in the SEC, in the securities industry, or just have an interest in this history, you can play an important role in sharing SEC and securities history for future generations.
