Securities and Exchange Commission Historical Society
ANNOUNCEMENT

The SEC Historical Society is pleased to announce its Officers and Trustees for 2025

Lori A. Richards will serve as President. Richards served with the SEC from 1985 - 2009, in the Division of Enforcement, on the executive staff of Chairman Arthur Levitt, and as the first Director of the Office of Compliance Inspections and Examinations. Then, she was a Principal of PwC and Managing Director of JP Morgan.

Richards said, “I’m honored to help lead the SEC Historical Society in preserving and documenting the SEC’s 90-year history protecting investors, maintaining fair, orderly and efficient markets, and facilitating capital formation. The Society’s Virtual Museum is a resource and a national asset. It helps us see and understand how securities regulation has developed over time — in the context of the challenges of the time — and actively right up through the present.”

Richards succeeds Meredith B. Cross, a partner in the Securities and Transactional Departments in WilmerHale's New York and Washington DC offices, who becomes Chair. "I am so grateful that I have had the opportunity to serve as President of the SEC Historical Society, and I look forward to my year as Chair,” said Cross. “The Society is extremely lucky to have Lori Richards as President – she brings a passion for the work of the SEC Historical Society and the importance of preserving the SEC’s history.”
