Paul Gonson, a Securities and Exchange Commission Historical Society founder, had a 37-year SEC career, 20 of which were as Solicitor overseeing the SEC’s appellate litigation. Mr. Gonson played a key role in a number of insider trading cases, including Dirks v. SEC, which he argued before the Supreme Court. In this oral history, Mr. Gonson reflects on arguing cases before the U.S. Supreme Court and the role of that court in shaping securities regulation.
