Accessibility Statement
The Securities and Exchange Commission Historical Society, through its Virtual Museum and Archive, is dedicated to sharing, preserving, and advancing knowledge of the history of financial regulation by and through the Securities and Exchange Commission. We strive to provide equal access to our online collections and educational resources for visitors with disabilities. We view accessibility as an integral part of our mission to make our collections and interpretive materials available to the broadest audience possible.
Accessibility standards
Our goal is to make the SEC Historical Museum website conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, which provides widely recognized standards for digital accessibility.
Digital collections and known limitations
Because we are a small nonprofit with limited resources, some materials in our digital collections may not yet fully meet these guidelines, or our accessibility goals. In particular, you may encounter:
- Historic documents, scans, and images that do not yet have complete alternative text or detailed descriptions.
- Audio and video content that is still in the process of being transcribed.
- Older exhibits or legacy pages created before our current accessibility practices were adopted.
We welcome comments on how to improve website accessibility and access to website materials.
Third-party platforms
Some content may be hosted on or embedded from third‑party platforms for video, collection management, or other services that are outside our full control and may not employ accessibility features.
