Announcing the Soft Launch of the SEC Historical Society’s Virtual Museum and Archives
Over the past year, the SEC Historical Society has undertaken a comprehensive redesign of its Virtual Museum and Archives. Originally launched in June 2002, the museum was established to share and preserve the rich history of financial regulation by and through the Securities and Exchange Commission. Now, 24 years later, we are pleased to announce the soft launch of our new website, which we have timed to coincide with the nation’s semiquincentennial celebration.
This phased launch allows us to gather your feedback, test new features, and add content in preparation for our full launch next year, which will mark the 25th Anniversary of the Museum’s Virtual Museum and Archives.
During this soft launch phase, the new site will replace the existing one for all users. To ensure a smooth transition, we are holding off on a broad publicity campaign, but we plan to promote it more widely in the coming months to drive user engagement.
What’s different about this new website
The Society has introduced a major modernization of the museum—the first since its inception. Updates include advanced search functionality and a contemporary design to attract a new generation of visitors and safeguard the history of the SEC and financial regulation.
The updated site infrastructure streamlines the process of adding new historical content, and we have already begun expanding the collection.
As a fully digital collection with no physical repository, the Virtual Museum and Archives are now housed on a platform designed to grow and extend the reach and impact of the historical material.
