In this oral history, Charles Cox describes how his interest in law and economics led to his becoming the SEC’s chief economist in 1982, his time a commissioner and his service as acting chairman before he ended his SEC tenure in 1989. Mr. Cox discusses the formation of the Office of the Chief Economist and integrating the economists’ views into the SEC’s work.
