David S. Ruder – Historical Society Founders Interview

David Ruder was Chairman of the SEC from 1987 to 1989, where he addressed insider trading scandals and helped develop “circuit breakers” to prevent stock market crashes after Black Monday. In this oral history, David Ruder explains how he, Paul Gonson and Harvey Pitt worked together to establish the SEC Historical Society in 1999. Mr. Ruder recorded an earlier oral history on May 27, 2015 in which he discusses issues he dealt with as Chairman of the SEC from 1987 to 1989.
