In this oral history, Robert Birnbaum reflects on his time as president of the American Stock Exchange from 1977 to 1985 and of the New York Stock Exchange from 1985 to 1988. He also shares highlights of his experiences at the General Accounting Office and the SEC early in his career including his work on the Special Study of Securities Markets.
