2026 “Ike” Hunt Hall of Honor Recipient
Over a 24-year career at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Cicely LaMothe has served in several senior leadership roles, most recently as Acting Director of the Division of Corporation Finance. In this capacity, she was the key thought leader and strategic advisor to the SEC Chairman and Commissioners on pivotal policy matters shaping the regulatory landscape for both public and private companies.
As Deputy Director of Disclosure Operations, she was the principal executive responsible for leading the SEC program that reviews IPOs, M&A transactions, exempt offerings, and periodic reports. She provided strategic oversight to interdisciplinary teams across nine industry-focused offices, directing the annual review of technical accounting, financial reporting, and legal compliance for thousands of transactional and periodic filings. Simultaneously, she directed the Office of Risk and Strategy, the Office of Assessment and Continuous Improvement, and the Disclosure Management Office, which deliver critical insights on emerging risks from market disruptions, implement SEC mandates, and update internal guidance.
Earlier in her tenure, Cicely held multiple leadership positions advising on novel complex accounting and legal issues under the Securities Act of 1933, the reporting requirements of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). She is a champion of operational excellence and an authentic leader dedicated to mentoring talent and developing collaborative, high-performing teams.
